How do you decaffeinate your coffee?

We primarily purchase water process decaf, either Swiss Water or Mountain Water. Things could get very complicated here (science!), so for brevity we'll sum it up: the process takes places either in Mexico (Mountain Water) or near Vancouver, British Colombia (Swiss Water) and is very similar, using steam or hot water to expand the pores of the coffee to make the caffeine easily extractable, and then soaked in a water solution to wash the caffeine and flavor solubles out. The water is sent through a special filter to capture the caffeine molecules, and then the water with now just the flavor compounds is reintroduced to the green coffee beans. They are then dried and packaged for roasting.
Whew! But it's the best dang decaf you'll ever have.

What's up with coffee from women-owned farms?

It's important to us to raise awareness of gender inequality in coffee-producing countries while financially empowering women growers. Although women are often the backbone in global agriculture, they have little representation and face many obstacles. Creating and supporting resources for women farmers opens up opportunities for better yields, better quality practices and more community care. Learn more here!

Why do your descriptions say things like "chocolate" "fruity" "sweet?" Does your coffee have have added flavors?

No added flavors here! Coffee, as a fruit, has inherent qualities based on terroir (that's a fancy way of saying unique environment, like soil, climate, altitude, etc.). So even though we all have a base idea of what coffee tastes like, each origin and different roast levels will produce coffees that are distinct. We like to pinpoint some of the things you might expect to taste from our coffees, the subtle flavor notes that deliver an exceptional cup.

Coffee -- Subscriptions

How does this work?

We have two types of subscriptions:

- You can subscribe to a specific product.

- Or, you can subscribe to receive a bundle of coffee. A bundle of coffee is 1 to 4 bags that you receive every two or four weeks. We automatically send a reminder email, and you can change the type, the grind, and the frequency before each shipment.

East View Coffee Company" provides a subscription service. By subscribing to our service, you have confirmed that you accept our Terms of Service. Your membership will automatically renew on a recurring basis, at which time your credit card will be charged automatically for the subscription products, including applicable shipping and handling fees until you cancel your membership.
